Reseda ArtBoxes
Reseda is proud to be a community where art, culture, and local pride come together, and our ArtBox Beautification Project is one of the ways we’re continuing that tradition. Our very first ArtBox was painted by independent artist Mary Beth Caccitolo, featuring a theme that highlighted green spaces and nature in Reseda.
Our first ArtBox is located near Reseda Park, around the intersection of Victory Blvd and Reseda Blvd, where residents and visitors can enjoy a beautiful piece of public art that celebrates the natural side of our neighborhood while adding color, creativity, and pride to the community.

ARTBOX CONTEST 2026
Now, we’re excited to build on that momentum through our first-ever ArtBox Student Design Contest, created in partnership with Magnolia Science Academy 1 (Reseda) and Magnolia Science Academy 5 (Los Lobos).
While we have selected our top winning design, this page is dedicated to showcasing every submission—past, present, and future—as we continue expanding this program with more schools throughout Reseda to inspire beautification, creativity, and community engagement. With Reseda’s strong mural scene and history as one of the first communities in Los Angeles to embrace painted ArtBoxes, we’re honored to keep growing public art in a way that celebrates our students, our neighborhoods, and the spirit of Reseda.

🏆 1st Place Winner: California Aguilar (Magnolia Science Academy 5)
“Reseda flows through like an ocean. People are fishes that lazily swim through the coral and seaweed streets. Although some people swim peacefully throughout the quiet streets, the waves like music, the streets clear and clean like the waters.
The streets are peaceful with people just passing by, there may be predators but they have a willing to just survive and go on.”

🥉 3rd Place Winner: Zahir Parameño (Magnolia Science Academy 5)
He named his art piece “El Primero” – The First. When I asked him why he selected that name, he said because no one has ever asked him to name his art and being placed felt like such a big accomplishment. He is grateful for this opportunity and hopes that this is one of many more art competitions he enters.

“My drawing is mainly inspired by the diversity of the city. This diversity was my greatest source of inspiration, as it refers to the different forms of street art found throughout the city. Personally, I find urban art very appealing because it adds color and vibrancy to the environment, making the city feel more lively and engaging through the variety of murals and colors it displays.
Although I am aware that practices such as graffiti on walls are often viewed negatively, the murals that represent artistic expression are the ones I appreciate the most. My interest in murals and street art is what motivated me to create this drawing.”

Vanni Khandpur: (Magnolia Science Academy 5)
“My artwork shows that Reseda is beautiful in every way. The flowers are nicely shaded and pretty with unique flower petal shapes. The flowers are lotus flowers, but in different shapes and sizes. The represent the beautiful details in Reseda’s weather, its from people or natural. While making this artwork, I started to realize how beautiful Reseda can be, I just had to think deeper about it. If you can see just how pretty my art is, then you can see just how pretty Reseda is.”

Aliana Peñate: 6th Grade (Magnolia Science Academy 1)
“My artwork is about the community working together to use renewable energy and create a healthy city. It shows my hope for the future of Reseda, where everyone helps take care of the city by planting, helping others, and keeping it welcoming.”
