American Legion Holiday Dinner & Dance Print
Saturday, December 15 2007, 5:00pm - 10:00pm

VaLLEY veterans bring troops and community together for

ANNUAL christmas holiday fund raiser

Ring in the holiday spirit with the Veterans of Reseda American Legion Post 308 on Sunday, December 15 2007 as they host their annual Holiday dinner dance and fund raiser! A larger-than-ever crowd is expected, as the Post is also celebrating its 80th anniversary in Reseda this year.

“We want everyone in the San Fernando Valley and yes - even throughout Los Angeles and California to know what an important historical asset we have right here in Reseda, and to know it’s available for everyone!” explains John Mika, Post Commander.

Festivities start at 5:00pm with Happy Hour, a scrumptious dinner served at 6:00pm and entertainment all night long thereafter. Gifts, prizes, raffle and a band will be part of the fun along with a special visit from Santa Claus. The Reseda High School JROTC will be performing as Color Guard. And, of course, the historic bar will be open all night long.

Central San Fernando Valley veterans started this local Post of the American Legion in 1927. Over the years its primary mission has been to assist war veterans, those still serving as active military, and military families with deployed members by providing care, assistance, social and recreational activities. Veterans of the Post also seize the opportunity at any moment to mentor youth in the San Fernando Valley.

The Veterans of Post 308 provide a wealth of history, knowledge, and technical experience to young people and families in this community. Included in its membership are soldiers who have recently returned from Iraq and are currently serving overseas in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

The Post is strongly committed to providing a community gathering place for the diverse residents of Reseda and surrounding townships. It has active partnerships with the Reseda Neighborhood Council, the Los Angeles Fire Department, Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) and the American Red Cross. Its facility is available for meetings, conferences, educational programs, cultural events, and youth services events. The Post also strives to instill a sense of pride, history, and responsibility in its membership and the community by preserving the memories and incidents of Central San Fernando Valley veterans in the wars of this nation and the sacrifices made by the Veterans community.

“We want to encourage community participation at our facility. This fund raiser is one of the ways we can serve the community and assist our wounded warriors. Our motto is ‘still serving America’.” states Commander John Mika. Proceeds from this event will go toward serving veterans and active military of the San Fernando Valley.
